Entry & Front Door
A dark, sealed-off entry replaced with two new doors: a custom French-style front door that finally lets daylight into the foyer, and a tall steel-frame interior door that turns the opening into the room into a focal point.
The original entry worked against itself. A solid traditional front door with small leaded-glass insets kept the foyer dark, and the interior opening to the next room sat under a heavy transom in builder-grade trim. Nothing about the space said arrival.
We replaced the front door with a custom French-style pair, divided lights running the full height, painted a soft blue-gray to match the new exterior. Daylight now reaches the foyer before you step inside. On the interior side, we reframed the opening taller and wider and hung a custom steel-frame door with black mullions. It reads like a gallery threshold, which gives the entry something to look at and the next room a proper way in.
The herringbone floor underneath ties it all together and gives the entry the moment it was missing.
